What is Sip & Scrawl?
A two-hour creative writing experience - with drinks - at the Understudy in Southbank, London. by comedian and writing coach Mike Sheer. This isn't a formal class - it's a playful, prompt-led session for anyone who wants to write, laugh, and get creative.
What happens?
Fun & quirky writing prompts, a full bar, and like-minded people all converge for an evening that will leave you refreshed and inspired.
No pressure, no critique. Share your writing if you want - or don't. It's your night.
Who's it for?
Anyone who wants to party with their imagination. Perfect for small groups, couples, first dates, or solo adventurers. Making stuff up is for everybody.

Where is it?
The Understudy, inside the National Theatre, Southbank, London UK. Right on the river, a short walk from Waterloo station.
Who's the host?
Mike is a professional stand up comedian and MC, a writing teacher, and a script editor. This blend of extroverted and introverted practices position him perfectly to be your guide through a gamut of juicy writing prompts he's developed himself. He also loves booze and hosts beer tastings, so can also recommend you a bevvy if you like.
Why does it exist?!
The host Mike Sheer (aka me) has been running comedy and script writing workshops for 7 years, in the UK, Greece, and the Netherlands. One day, he (aka I) ran one targeted to anybody looking for a good time, it became clear that everybody could use a break from reality, and enjoy a couple of hours where all you have to do is things like pretend you're a talking bottle of mayo.
Inspired by the popular Sip & Paint format, Sip & Scrawl became a thing! Nearly a year later and I've hosted over 50 happy scrawlers.
