WHAT:
Comedy Thingy is a new monthly pro stand up night at
Hackney Wick's Thingy Cafe. This second edition
features a killer mixtape of diversely hilarious acts from
the UK, Romania, South Africa, and Canada.
MCed by Canadian comic Mike Sheer ("sparkling payoffs"
★★★★ Scotsgay) and headlined by Romanian stand-up
veteran Radu Isac ("intelligently subversive'' - The Scotsman),
it also features:
• Award-winning South African comedian hailed
as the First Lady of African comedy Thenjiwe
• Canadian world-traveling comic Dion Owen
• English character act Sally Firth

WHAT:
Live stand-up comedy meets cinema with the launch
of this brand-new format. UK's hottest comics select
and perform before their favourite comedy classics!
Following up on the night's successful debut (Young
Frankenstein presented by Tim Renkow), Sept 2nd
features a screening of Stanley Kubrick's classic
collaboration with comedy titan Peter Sellers:
Dr. Strangelove. Compered by comedian Mike Sheer
and with an introductory stand up performance from
the hilarious Jordan Gray!
Jordan Gray is a British comedian and screenwriter, and the
creator and co-star of the record-breaking Transaction.
Beyond comedy, she is perhaps best known for being the
first ever transgender contestant on The Voice
(2016 semi-finalist). The comedian/singer/songwriter from Southend can be seen on BBC, ITV, Sky and Comedy Central.
